Innovation has to start at group level, ideal size could be 10 for the group per experienced guide. We have experienced very encouraging outcomes where in most of the members were fresh joinees. Idea was to create an environment in the group akin to a small research group with regular teaching duties as well. Research is a metaphor for innovation and teaching for regular job assignment. An unhindered approach to the senior in the group was granted and encouraged. Any person with an idea was given immediate time and listened to, by keeping the on going work aside or asked to have a seat and wait for few minutes. Senior listens and the parties involved toy with the idea to take it forward. Almost every exchange ended with lot of value add and excitement to work on the idea. Many irrelevant idea were turned into relevant by the originators after these exchanges. After a POC was done, get the buy in from an appropriate business unit to work along monetizing the idea. There is a domino effect here, many groups start working on ideation and many more business units in a large company join hands with these groups to take these to monetization.
